Peter's Show at Panama Bay Coffee House (5.22.09)

Here are the pictures I took at my friend’s show. One of my dreams as a photographer is to capture a musician or a band during a concert, but since they won’t allow SLRs to a show, this is as close as I can get for now.

I had to use high ISO because I didn't want to use flash photography because I might blind them when I took a picture. The bad part of using high ISO is that it creates digital noise ("snowy" picture). As a digital photographer, you have to accept the digital noise or you won't have a shot at all.

The first picture on this blog is a picture of my friend, Peter. For the past year, him and his roommates threw so many parties, and at these shin digs, I was able to hear him play his guitar from time to time. This show I attended last Friday was the first time I heard him and his band. I have to admit, it was a great show to attend. I took over 100 pictures and these are my favorites. I hope you enjoy the photos I took.

The next 2 pictures are my absolute favorites of the bunch.

End of the Semester Thoughts

Those who were able to talk to me during this spring semester knows that I complained a lot how difficult this past 4 months has been. If you were one of the lucky ones to “avoid” communicating with me, here is the gist of it… I took anatomy and physiology during the semester which people highly recommend not taking together because both classes are intensive. To keep my plan for the nursing program, I needed to do what I needed to do. My brain never felt so overwhelmed like it did. I stayed home a lot to study, especially for anatomy. A few of my friends made the comment in how I changed from my college days in Sacramento till now; in a nutshell, I did a 180 and limited my partying down.

Now the semester is over, it’s time to relax and reset the brain. I honestly felt empty the next day after my finals were over. Don’t get me wrong, I’m extremely happy that I’m done with my classes, but as my fellow classmate stated, “Anatomy gave us a sense of purpose.” When I woke up last Thursday, the first question I asked myself, “Now what?” Then I asked, “How can I fill this void?”

Well we just have to let summer play out. This is my game plan… I want to find a job, but as everyone knows, the economy is down the sh** hole and it will be difficult to find employment. In the mean time, I’ll practice what I love to do, PHOTOGRAPHY! Last night I was able to attend my friend Pete’s show at a local coffee shop. I took a ton of pictures and I’ll post them up as soon as I can.

Kario's Baptism/Easter 2009

2009 Texas Trip

This semester has to be the hardest semester of my entire life thus far. I’m truly grateful that my cousin from Texas, Marisa convinced me to visit her during my spring break because I really needed to unwind. So here’s the story of my life…

I arrived on Wednesday night and it was nothing but partying till I left. I arrived around dinner time and we ate at a sushi restaurant with a few friends of hers. I was super hungry so I ordered two specials, but the picture looked like it was a small serving. Before I knew it, half of the table was covered with just my order.

After dinner, we had a gathering at my cousin’s apartment. It was a nice way to kick off my spring break. The drink specials consisted of Wild Turkey, red wine, and Corona’s. I was surprised we actually drank every last drop by the end of the night. Here is a picture of me drinking wine out of a candle holder.

The next morning, I woke up with a major hangover. I supposed to take my cousin to work because I planned to do sightseeing around Dallas and I needed her car. My cousin actually took her car and let me sleep in. Thank God she did because my hangover was horrible. I would like to thank Marisa’s roommate, Emily for offering me a pillow to sleep on in the morning. Thursday evening, my cousin and I took it easy and watched a movie with her friend, Kita… I forgot to mention that Kita is one of the most beautiful girls I’ve met my entire life so I was a bit intimidated to talk to her.

After my cousin got of work on Friday, we headed to Austin to party up on 6th Street. The entire road trip to Austin, I sat by Kita!!! Unfortunately I didn’t talk to her much because she suffered from motion sickness so I let her rest. We arrived at the hotel before the rest of the group did, so we ate at the restaurant called Finn and Porter, a popular steak house. It was soooo expensive. Kita and I shared an 8 ounce steak, mash potatoes, a glass of white wine, and 1 Corona for $80.00. It was worth it because it was a really great steak. The face of Kita says it all…

The rest of the group arrived shortly after dinner. To save money in the bars, we threw a telly [hotel party]. I was surprised how much alcohol was bought. We had 2 handles of Jack Daniels, a handle Wild Turkey, Jagermeister, and many different kinds of beers.

Now the real partying starts… 6th Street. I felt bad that Marisa’s boyfriend, Clayton forgot his ID in Dallas, so he couldn’t party it up with us… I would like to tell you everything, but I frankly don’t remember it. Lucky I took pictures to help jog the memory.

I think it was Kita who suggested we should go swimming, so amazingly a few of us were able to get up at 7 AM to go swimming. When we walked out to the pool, it was foggy and raining. It didn’t stop us, and I’m glad we did that because it was fun.

Saturday’s plan was to go to San Antonio to see the Alamo. We were all tired, but we made it. I really wanted to talk to Kita more to know her better, but I was beat tired. Either way, we still had a great time.

I honestly wasn’t ready to leave Texas. If I could have, I would have stayed an extra week. I’m glad I went because now I’m not as stressed about school.
