New Pictures

It's been a little over 2 months since I wrote my last blog. Frankly, I've been too lazy to keep it up. I would also post more pictures, but since it's been the rainy season in Cali, I didn't go photo shooting as much as I do during spring, summer, and fall. Here are some recent pictures that I like.

I like to take pictures of people doing every day things; for example, taking pictures.

I was inspired by Alice in Wonderland. I wanted to capture a psychedelic atmopshere.

I felt this was the best object I found at Mount Diablo.

Vegas/NYE/Camp Trip at Zion National Park

Here’s another blog entry about Vegas. Even though I’m extremely tired of the Vegas scene, I still enjoying going there to see my friends. When I arrived, I didn’t want to sit at home and just watch TV. A couple of days before I left, I called my friend, Diana to hang out. I decided to keep it low key, and we watched Sherlock Holmes. The movie turned out to be ok because it started off really slow for me.

On Tuesday, I called my other friend Trina to see if she was busy. Lucky she wasn’t or else I would have done nothing for Tuesday night. That night we went bowling in Sams Town. Because she didn’t eat dinner, we decided to go to Red Robin to grab something to eat. That night, they had $5 Long Island Ice Teas and we definitely took advantage of that. After dinner, we headed to the bowling alley and played drunk bowling. We bought a pitcher of beer so the buzz of the Long Islands would not go away. As for the scores; no need to mention that. After we were done we headed back to Red Robin to order another round of Long Islands. For a midnight snack, we ordered a shrimp cocktail. That night was fun.







Wednesday night was another fun night. I bought tickets for Diana and I to watch the musical, Lion King. I’ve been meaning to watch that show for a while, and I figured it was a good time to do it. Tickets were expensive, so I had to buy the cheapest tickets possible. Lucky there was a big screw up and our seats were doubled booked. Our usher lead us to the orchestra section (which are really expensive seats). The show was awesome, but I swear I was going to have a heart attack. The actors walked by 3 times and made me jump off my seat.

Thursday night was New Years Eve (NYE). I wish I can write a lot about this night, but frankly I can’t because I blacked out. This is all I remember: 1) Drank 4 rounds of silverback (Hypnotic, Bacardi 151, Red Bull/Monster) 2) Sitting in the cab 3) Stopping a couple of fights between my friends and drunk people on the street 4) Midnight 5) Looking for Raymond 6) Attempting to walk home from the Vegas strip. There were so many things that I forgot, but my friends are filling in the gaps throughout these past few days.






Friday to Sunday we went camping at Zion National Park. There was a whole lot of sitting around, cooking, and playing cards. We did attempt to hike up Angel’s Landing, but it was too dangerous. There was so much ice that we kept falling. It wasn’t worth it because we can get hurt or even fall of the cliff. The best part of that hike is going down. As I mentioned before, there was a lot of ice so at one point we had to sit on our bottoms and just slide down the cliff; it was like a giant slide! We also hiked to the Narrows. It would have been nice to walk in the river, but the water was too cold. On Sunday, we headed back to Vegas, but we wanted to stop at a mom and pops restaurant. Food was awesome, but any food would have tasted good since all we ate during the camp trip were hotdogs, hamburgers, bologna sandwiches, and beans.


















My LA/East Bay friends decided to eat one last meal before they headed back to LA. Diana took us to a Greek restaurant. I never had Greek before, and all I have to say is that the food was delicious. After dinner, Diana took me to Fremont Street to the casino Mermaid to enjoy desert. We ordered deep fried Twinkies and Oreos. Once again, it was a first for me, and it was so good. I’m actually craving it now while writing this blog.

I hope you enjoyed this blog entry. It was a great trip. Our next camp trip my friends are planning is at Yosemite for Memorial Day weekend. Hopefully that will fall through.

(11-19-09 - 11-23-09) Triple D Returns to Dallas

This blog is long overdue. I’ve been so busy with school, editing the photos from a gig I had a month ago, and Christmas season that I hadn’t had time to write about my trip to Texas. This was my third time to visit my cousin in Dallas. Just like my last trip in April, it was nothing but partying till the time I arrived till the day I left.

When I left Dallas in April, I told them I will return. I was planning to go back sometime in the summer, but I knew I would be miserable because of the Dallas heat. Since my cousin, Marisa enjoys Twilight as much as I do, I figure I can make a trip in November; and that’s exactly what I did.

As soon as I arrived, we headed straight to the restaurant where I got to enjoy a Vietnamese dinner with a few of her friends. Right after dinner, we headed to the movie theater for the midnight showing of Twilight: New Moon. This has to be the sickest theater I ever been to. We were able to purchase drinks during the movie. I ordered a huge glass of a long island ice tea. When I finished that, I decided to order a Corona. By half way of the movie, I had a good buzz going. I was surprised how good New Moon was. It definitely gave justice to the book; actually in my opinion, it was better than the book. When we left the theater, my cousin and I were able to take pictures of the truck that Bella drives.





Day 2 was jammed packed. When I was in the airport waiting for my flight to leave for Dallas, my friend My suggested I should check out the Galleria to go shopping and ice skating. I felt that was a great idea since the last time I ice skated was when I was 5 years old. Since I roller bladed for years, I was able to find my balance in a matter of minutes and I decided to show off… and yes because of that decision, I did fall =/. After an hour of skating, we went shopping. People who know me knows that shopping is not my favorite thing to do, but since I was with two ladies, I tagged along. After 3 hours, I finally went into a store that had guy products. I’ve been looking for a messenger bag for half a year now, and I actually found one in the Fossil store. The best part besides finding the messenger bag I wanted is that I was the first person to purchase this particular bag. It just came out that morning straight from the corporate office.

After shopping, we headed to dinner and a basketball game. That night, Dallas Mavs were playing my Sacramento Kings. Unfortunately the Kings lost to the Mavs; 104-102. After the game, we headed back to the apartment, and…. PARTY!!! The best memory of the night for me is when my cousin decided to blow up a queen size air mattress in her bedroom for me to sleep on and she pinned herself to the wall. I had a good laugh for 15 minutes and even to this day, thinking of that image makes me chuckle.

After the hungover was done with, we headed to the zoo per request of Robin. What a great photography opportunity, but I didn’t have my zoom lens with me. I took tons of shots, but wasn’t happy with them. The pictures below are my favorites for that day.

When we got back from the zoo, I was so tired that I wasn’t looking forward to that night’s festivities. For the night life, my cousin had a plan to go bar hopping. I wish I can remember all the places we went to, but there is a good chance that I blacked out. The best part of the night was the first and second bar had $3 shots. When we went to the third bar, a beautiful girl named Katrina came up to me and asked if I wanted a shot. I told her of course, but I was there with other people. She said it was all good and "bought" them shots as well. She then told me she was the guest list manager and wanted us to sign up for next week. I told her that I wasn’t from Dallas, but my friends were. To end the night, we went karaoking. I HATE singing, but everyone else wanted to, so I had to tag along. My plan was to sit there and enjoy the music. Someone typed in the song, “Hotel California,” and since that is my state, I guess I had to sing. I felt really uncomfortable, and couldn’t wait till the song was over. The other song I sang was with the guys was, “Bye-Bye-Bye” by N*Sync. That was fun because all the attention wasn’t on me. To my surprise, Suzanne had a real great voice, almost angel like. We kept passing the mic to her.

Day 4 was rest day. When I woke up with a killer hangover, I asked Marisa if I can have a personal day. After I took my nap, we did something on her bucket list; we went to the gun range! I’ve gone shooting before, so I had a little experience. That day we shot a hand gun, AK-47 and an Uzi. To be honest, I was a bit nervous when my cousin had the guns in her hand. On the target, it said, “Don’t Shoot Above This Line.” Somehow my cousin went above the line 3 times; maybe more because she did miss the paper a few times. Actually she hit the rail with the AK-47 and caused it to spark. That was the one spot our instructor told us not to hit. After that happened, I decided to take the AK from her and just handed her the hand gun. The Uzi was the best gun I shot that day. I never had the chance to shoot a full automatic before. My aim was horrible with that gun and I shot the target in the crouch area. If that was a real person, there’s no chance that person would have kids ever again ;).

I miss my Dallas friends and I’m hoping to return there soon. We plan on going on a cruise together, and I hope this trip falls through. That can be the last big trip before my nursing program starts.
